Family-Owned & Operated Since 1933
Riley, Inc. installs, replaces, repairs and maintains water heaters for homeowners, commercial buildings and industrial customers in Altoona, Blair County and the surrounding areas. If your water heater has stopped, is leaking, or is old enough that you are weighing one more repair against a new unit, call (814) 942-6772 or request a quote.
A heater that has stopped making hot water, makes too little, or keeps tripping a safety control. A malfunctioning water heater is standard plumbing repair work for us.
Removing the old heater and installing the new one, with the water connections, the gas connection where there is one, and the vent handled as part of the same job.
A water heater for a building that does not have one yet, or for a new bathroom, kitchen or wash-up area.
Regular service that keeps a working heater running and catches problems before they turn into a no-hot-water call.
On a gas-fired heater, the gas line and the vent are part of the job. We service, replace and repair interior gas lines, and our technicians install, repair and maintain venting.
Our team includes factory-trained technicians who specialize in the service and installation of high-efficiency boilers and water heaters. Replacing an old unit? Ask us to price a high-efficiency model too.
Repair or Replace?
Many faults are in a part, not the heater itself. A thermostat, heating element, thermocouple or relief valve can be replaced on a unit that is otherwise sound, and so can a leaking supply connection.
Some signs point to the tank, and a tank cannot be repaired:
Once the tank leaks, the heater needs replacing. If you are not sure yet what you are dealing with, our post on what to check when you have no hot water covers the checks you can make before you call.
We work for residential, commercial and industrial customers with the same technicians. In a workplace, a failed water heater can close a kitchen, a restroom or a wash-up area for the rest of the day. If a heater in your building is near the end of its life, tell us when you call: replacing it on a date you choose is far less disruptive than replacing it the morning it fails.
Tell us what the heater is doing, and we will tell you what it needs.

Charles D. Riley started Riley, Inc. in 1933, taking plumbing and heating work in Altoona during the Great Depression. Three of his sons continued the business, a grandson is president today, and two great-grandsons work in the company. More of that history is on our about page.
Our shop is at 2701 Washington Ave in Altoona, right off 18th Street, and we serve Blair County and the surrounding areas, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. If the problem turns out to be heating rather than hot water, see heating and cooling. For everything else on the plumbing side, start at plumbing services.
